South Ukraine NPP Unit 3 "Vulkan-SPD-6"
Distributed Computer System Pilot Operation

On December 19, 2000 SUNPP Unit 3 Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) based on "Vulkan-SPD-6" Distributed Computer System (DCS) is put into its pilot operation after successful completion of its Site Acceptance Test (SAT) on SUNPP Unit 3. The representatives of National Nuclear Energy Generating Co. "Energoatom", Nuclear Regulatory Administration of Ukraine, Burns&Roe, Westinghouse, Westron, NPP Operation Support Institute, KhIEP, and Crimea Scientific and Technical Center took part in the test performance. The representatives of Novovoronezh and Balakovsk NPPs (Russia) were also present on this event.

Now all SUNPP Units are equipped with SPDSs. Its the remarkable result of the joint efforts of Westinghouse (USA), Westron and other Ukrainian organizations within the framework of the international nuclear safety program. SPDS implementation allows to improve considerably the NPP safe operation.
