Extension of Cooperation Between Westron and
Research and Development Enterprise
“Ruselprom-Electromash”

In accordance with the “Agreement on cooperation and partnership” between Westron and Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” and the Team–work project for the year 2011 the specialists of Westron took part in factory tests of feed system for Diesel-Generator Power Unit of Smolenskaya Atomic Power Plant effected by Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” (Saint-Petersburg).

At the same time the meeting on profound cooperation between Westron and Research and Development enterprise “Ruselprom-Electromash” as for the project implementation of Automatic Control Systems in the Reserve Diesel-Electric Power Units was held.

Koeberg NPP (South Africa) Unit 1 and Unit 2
I&C System modernization is complete

Last weekend Unit 2 of Koeber NPP (South Africa), equipped with a new Information and Computation System (KIT), has rich its full power level. Thus the project for KIT replacement for both Koeberg Units, carried out by Westinghouse (USA) jointly with Westron, is accomplished.

The new KIT was installed to Unit 2 during last outage in April 2011. Earlier, in 2010 the new KIT has replaced the old one at Unit 1.

Both KIT systems are based on Ovation® platform. Westron scope in this project includes development of man-machine interface (MMI) and development of Periodic Test Monitoring application.

Vent Stack Radiation Monitoring Equipment
of Units No.1 and 2, NPP Dukovany
Has Been Successfully Put into Operation

During the period from 2.05 to 20.05.2011 at Dukovany NPP site engineers from Westron, I&C Energo a.s. and VF a.s. successfully conducted preliminary complex tests of gateways and display devices of vent stack radiation monitoring system of Units No.1 and 2, NPP Dukovany.

This equipment manufactured and supplied by Westron LLC according to the contract with I&C Energo a.s., is intended for collecting information in normal and emergency modes of units operation and its representation at the MCR’s and Radiation Monitoring Control Room.

Test results confirmed the compliance of radiation monitoring equipment with technical requirements and standards. The equipment was successfully put into industrial operation.

Factory Acceptance Test
of Signal Conditioning Panels
for Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Almaraz NPP (Spain)

Factory Acceptance Test of Signal Conditioning Panels for Unit 1 and Unit 2 of Almaraz NPP (Spain) has been successfully completed at Westron site.

The Panels are destined for decoupling of electrical signals acquired by the centralized computer system (SAMO) from safety system equipment.

Installation of the equipment at Almaraz NPP Units 1 and 2 is scheduled on the years 2011 and 2012.

Westron performs activities on development, production, tests and supply of the Panels in frame of the Contract with Westinghouse Electric Company (USA).

Connection Test of the Radiation Monitoring Systems Equipment for Dukovany NPP in Czech Republic

According to the radiation monitoring system innovation project at Dukovany NPP the connection test of radiation monitoring equipment manufactured by Westron, VF a.s. and Pyatigorsk Plant "Impulse" (Russia) successfully passed at the site of VF a.s. (Cherna Hora, Czech Republic) during the period from 08.03 to 24.03.2011. The main contractor is I&C Energo a.s. (Czech Republic).

The test results confirmed the correctness of the design decisions and radiation monitoring equipment readiness for implementation at the Dukovany NPP. The first phase of implementation is scheduled for May 2011.

The Contract on Engineering Services for Upgrade
of Computer Systems for Beznau NPP (Switzerland)
 Has Been Signed

Westron has signed the contract with Westinghouse (USA) on engineering services for upgrade of the centralized computer systems (ANIS) at Units 1 and 2 of Beznau Nuclear Power Plant.

Westron’s scope of supply comprises development of the software that provides plant personnel with visual information about status and operation of plant systems.

The systems will be based on “Ovation” platform. The installation of the upgraded Beznau NPP Units 1 and 2 systems is scheduled on the years 2012 and 2013.

atomic engineering in a context of events
on the atomic power station Fukushima is lead

On "a round table" in Westron questions of atomic engineering in a context of events on the Japanese atomic power station Fukushima-1 have been discussed. The correspondent of the newspaper Time Arcady Genkin, employees of Westron general director Michael Chernyshov, the chief engineer under projects of information systems Vitaly Tilinsky and the chief of a department Alexander Matkov have participated in work of "a round table".
