Westron's Information Bulletin No. 5 (October 1998)

On September 8-10, 1998 in Westron representatives of Westinghouse Quality Assurance Service inspected Chernobyl NPP Power Unit 3 hardware quality assurance and its readiness for shipment to Chernobyl NPP Power Unit 3.

The inspection results are positive. Before this inspection ChNPP Unit 3 hardware was accepted by Westron's Quality Assurance Service and by State Quality Center of Ukrainian Ecological Safety Ministry.

On September 17, 1998 Westron supplied Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) Distributed Computer System to Chernobyl Power Unit 3.

23 connected DPU cabinets for data acquisition and processing
4 relay cabinets
5 workstations performing functions of Computation Servers, Engineer station, and HSR/Log servers
2 Operator stations in console enclosure for their location in MCR

SPDS for Chernobyl NPP was developed by RDIPE (Russia), Westinghouse (USA), and Westron (Ukraine).

SPDS functional design and application software are developed by RDIPE developed RBMK reactor.

Westron developed technical documentation on SPDS hardware, manufactured and tested it.

In September VVER-1000 SPDS functional design team worked in Westinghouse Nuclear Projects Division. These works aimed at completion of SPDS functional project for Khmelnitsky NPP Unit 1 and Zaporozhye NPP Unit 5 which is expected to be implemented on second phase of these projects.

Functional design team includes representatives of Ukrainian NPPs, Westron, and Westinghouse, etc.

On September 29 Westron will selebrate four year of its foundation. All these years Westron's main goal was and remains work for our main Customers - Ukrainian Power Plants. We are trying to develop systems required for NPPs, take into consideration all requirements of our Customers applying modern technologies and approaches.

"Uran 2M" CIS and A701-3 Turbogenerator Monitoring System hardware were replaced by "Vulkan-IVK" Distributed Computer System at South Ukrainian NPP Unit 1.
Manufacture and supply SPDS to Khmelnitsky NPP Unit 1 and Zaporozhye NPP Unit 5.
Supply Development Unit for SPDS software development and verification to NPP Operation Support Institute.
Manufacture and supply of SPDS for Chernobyl NPP Unit 3 (RBMK).

We are optimistic in our future and hope that good relations and cooperation with our Customers will be developed and get stronger.

Chernobyl NPP Power Unit 3 SPDS Distributed Computer System Shipment On September 17, 1998 Westron supplied Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) Distributed Computer System to Chernobyl Power Unit 3. Shipment scope: 23 connected DPU cabinets for data acquisition and processing 4 relay cabinets 5 workstations performing functions of Computation Servers, Engineer station, and HSR/Log servers 2 Operator stations in console enclosure for their location in MCR Works on SPDS equipment installation supervised by Westron have started. SPDS for Chernobyl NPP was developed by RDIPE (Russia), Westinghouse (USA), and Westron (Ukraine). SPDS functional design and application software are developed by RDIPE developed RBMK reactor. Westron developed technical documentation on SPDS hardware, manufactured and tested it. The project is financed by USA Energy Generating Ministry. SPDS commissioning at Power Unit 3 is planned in autumn this year.
