The Upgraded SU NPP Unit 3 Computer Information System
July 21, 2006 The SU NPP Unit 3 Computer Information System (CIS) upgrade in the scope of Phase 2 has been successfully completed. The upgraded SU NPP Unit 3 CIS has been put into pilot operation. In the process of the SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade, the complete replacement of the "Titan-2" CIS Upper Level (SM-2M) and the partial replacement of the "Titan-2" CIS Low Level, including the replacement of the part of the KSO-1 cabinets and the replacement of the A-701 Turbogenerator Monitoring System, has been provided. The CIS Low Level upgrade has been based on the "Vulcan-M" hardware developed and manufactured by Westron. The CIS Upper Level upgrade has been based on the Westinghouse "Ovation" platform. The Phase 1 of the SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade was completed in 2005. The SU NPP Unit 3 CIS upgrade was provided on the project INSP WBS 1.02.03.47 "SUNPP Upper Level Computer Information Systems".
SUNPP Unit 1 Automatised Chemistry Control
and Diagnosis July 18, 2006 Westron has supplied the SUNPP Unit 1 Automatised Chemistry Control and Diagnosis Expert System (ES) on SUNPP Unit 1. Prior to the SUNPP Unit 1 ES shipment on site, it has successfully passed FAT. It is the third ES developed and manufactured by Westron on the international TACIS Program. This year Westron has supplied the similar systems on the SUNPP Unit 2 and Unit 3. The supplied ES's are capable to calculate the chemistry parameters when required, indicate the chemistry deviations, provide the operators with the diagnosis results, and provide alarms when required. The SUNPP Unit 1 ES implementation on the SUNPP Unit 1 is planning within the period of the SUNPP Unit 1 outage 2006.
Westron Holds Continuous Certificates of Compliance June 16, 2006 Now Westron is the holder of the Certificates of Commercial Items Compliance with the requirements of the UkrSEPRO national certification system that are valid for two years. The manufacture examination for compliance with the requirements defined in the DSTU 3413-96 "Items Certification" and the test of the commercial item samples on their compliance with the applicable safety requirements have demonstrated that the following commercial "Vulcan"/"Vulcan-M" hardware items are worth the Certificates of Compliance.
South Baghdad Thermal Power Station June 14, 2006 Westron has successfully completed the South Baghdad Thermal Power Station (TPS) Unit 4 Digital Control System (DCS) FAT. Westron has developed the TPS Unit 4 DCS jointly with LvovORGRES (Lvov) and Energoproekt institute (Kharkov). The developed TPS Unit 4 DCS provides all TPS Unit 4 DCS functions, including the protections and interlocks, the auto process control and the direct remote control using the operator workstation displays. The TPS Unit 4 DCS is based on the state-of-the-art "Vulcan-M" hardware developed by Westron. The TPS Unit 4 DCS applies Westron's base and application software integrated with the control software modules developed by LvovORGRES.
Commissioning of SUNPP Unit 2 CIS Based on "Vulcan-CIS/SPD-2" May 26, 2006 The integrated Computer Information System (CIS) based on the "Vulcan-CIS/SPD-2" Distributed Computer System (DCS) developed and manufactured by Westron has been put into the commercial operation on the South-Ukraine NPP Unit 2. The CIS was put into pilot operation within the period of the outage 2005 in line with the NPP I&C upgrade schedules of NAEK "Energoatom". The shipment of the hardware components for the manufacture of the CIS Upper Level was provided on the International Nuclear Safety Program (INSP). For the manufacture of the CIS Low Level hardware, the part of the Chernobyl NPP Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS) hardware was used. Some CIS Low Level subsystems are based on the Westron's commercial "Vulcan-M" hardware. The process of the SUNPP Unit 2 CIS replacement was performing simultaneously with the SUNPP Unit 2 SPDS upgrade and its integration with CIS. The SUNPP Unit 2 CIS pilot operation has demonstrated the advanced performance characteristics of the system and its complete conformity with its technical requirements. The metrological certification of the SUNPP Unit 2 CIS measuring channels performed during the SUNPP Unit 2 outage 2006 has certified that the accuracy of these channels meets the project accuracy requirements.
